Membership

All retired and active state certificated or non-certificated school personnel and/or their spouses.

Goals

Unit 08 works to promote the general welfare of its members by protecting and improving state retirement benefits for present and future school retirees. Our members volunteer in schools to promote public education. We provide mini-grants to classroom teachers for class projects and award college scholarships to students planning to enter the field of education. Meeting Information

Meetings for 2012 in January, March, April, May, September and October will be at the Elks Lodge on Pine Road in East Bremerton on the 4th Thursday of the month at 10:15 a.m. The programs for the meetings begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the business meetings. The Elks' soup and sandwich lunch is available at noon, and everyone is invited to stay on for the Tea Dance with live music and drinks beginning at 12:30. (There is ample parking and a drop-off portico with electric doors designed for handicap convenience.)

In the months of February and June, we will take Field Trips in place of meetings. In December we will lunch at Hale's Alehouse at the north end of Kitsap Mall in Silverdale. For this Christmas event, please call one of the above officers or chairmen to be added to the list. 

At the Christmas event, we show our support for Kitsap Community Resources' Santa Shop with gifts of new clothes, books, toys, blankets and games for infants to teenagers, but please bring your items unwrapped. Also, to support our KCSRA Scholarship Fund, you can donate or purchase baked goods, craft items, dried flowers, etc., at a bazaar table.

February 23 -  Field Trip to new YMCA in Silverdale; tour begins at 10:30 a.m.

May 24 -         Sharing favorite books or childhood memory

 

June 28 -         Field Trip to Bremerton's Museums and Art Shops,

                          meeting at the Naval Museum, 251 First Street, at 10:30 a.m.
